June 10, 2014
Charleston, W.Va. - Charleston attorney Anthony Majestro was elected president of the West Virginia Association for Justice at the organization's annual convention earlier in June. Majestro is a partner with the Charleston firm Powell Majestro.
"It is a tremendous honor to serve as president of the West Virginia Association for Justice and represent the exceptional lawyers who are members of our association. No organization does more to promote justice and protect the rights of every West Virginian--our workers, our consumers and our small business owners. I am proud of the work we do," Majestro said.
Majestro has served as a member of the WVAJ Board of Governors for more than a decade. He was elected to the organization's executive committee in 2007. He was named the association's Stanley E. Preiser Member of the Year in both 2007 and 2012.
Majestro was raised in Charleston. He graduated summa cum laude from West Virginia University in 1986 with a B. S. in Economics. While at WVU, he was awarded the Harry S. Truman Scholarship. He earned his J. D. in 1989 from Georgetown University Law Center, where he served on the editorial board of the Georgetown Law Journal as senior notes and comments editor. Following law school, he served as a law clerk to the Honorable Thomas A. Clark of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. He practiced for five years with a large defense firm in Charleston in the civil litigation department before moving to a firm concentrating on the representation of personal injury plaintiffs. In 2002, he and law partner J. C. Powell established Powell and Majestro.
The other officers elected at the convention are: Paige Flanigan (Princeton), president-elect; Jane E. Peak (Morgantown), vice president; David M. Hammer (Martinsburg), treasurer; Chad S. Lovejoy (Huntington), secretary; Bobby Warner (Charleston), parliamentarian. Elected to the executive committee were Christopher J. Regan (Wheeling), J. B.
